Verification of signature on documents at an Israeli mission abroad

This service is intended for a person requiring official confirmation that his signature appears on a document that is to be presented in Israel.

Who can apply

The application may be submitted by Israeli or foreign citizens wishing to sign a document for presentation in Israel, as well as on behalf of corporations or companies incorporated in Israel or abroad.

How to apply

You must present yourself at an Israeli mission in the country where you are staying, together with the original documents that need to be verified, as well as a passport or ID card or driver's license.


In a real estate transaction – the identification will be made solely by means of a valid passport or ID card.


Documents that are in a language not known to the representative or to the signatory:


If the language of the document is not known to the representative or to the signatory, a translation in a language that is understood by the signatory or by the representative must be attached together with a certified affidavit of the translator.
The translator's affidavit must state that the translator is proficient in both languages and that the translation is true to the original.


A translator's affidavit can be certified in one of the following ways:

  •  By the authorized diplomatic representative, as a separate notarial act
  • By a local notary. The affidavit must be duly certified (apostille or authentication by the local foreign ministry). 
  •   By an Israeli lawyer or notary.
     

Verification of signature on behalf of a corporation or company incorporated in Israel – the following documents should be attached:

  • Certificate of incorporation or certificate of registration of the company, duly certified (apostille or authentication by the local foreign ministry).
  • An up-to-date written confirmation by the company's lawyer or accountant that the signatory is authorized to bind the company and to sign on its behalf.
     
    Verification of signature on behalf of a company incorporated abroad 
     the following documents should be attached:
  •   Certificate of incorporation or certificate of registration of the company, duly certified (apostille or authentication by the local foreign ministry).
  • An up-to-date written confirmation by the company's lawyer or accountant that the signatory is authorized to bind the company and to sign on its behalf.


If the person signing before the consul is a minor, he must present a guardian's approval or a court's approval prior to signing.

Notarizations must be made in the physical presence of the person signing in front of a diplomatic or consular representative.

Diplomatic representatives are not authorized to carry out notarized actions relating to minors without obtaining prior approval from the Foreign Ministry headquarters.Israel missions abroad are not authorized to draft wills, verify prenuptial agreements between spouses or prepare documents of a legal nature.

A notarized act will not be performed at the representative office when:

It is against the laws of the country in which you reside. The document is false or against the law. The document is not complete or poorly edited.

In cases where there is a reason that prevents the applicant from appearing before a representative or notary for signature verification, call the representative office to clarify additional courses of action. Signature verification must be submitted to the representative office Israel in the country of residence with the original documents that are sought to be verified along with a passport, or identity card, or driver's license. Signature verification for applicants under the age of 18 requires a guardian's signature or court approval. When signing a document intended for the execution of a real estate transaction, identification will be done by means of an identity card or a valid passport only.

In the event that the language of the document is unknown to the representative or signer, a translation and a verified affidavit of an interpreter must be attached. The interpreter's affidavit must state that the interpreter is fluent in both languages and the translation matches the original in content. An interpreter's affidavit can be verified in one of the following ways:

By the authorized diplomatic representative, as a separate notary act.by a local notary and with an Apostille stamp by a lawyer in Israel.

To verify a signature on behalf of a corporation or company incorporated in Israel, the following documents must be attached:

A certificate of incorporation or certificate of registration of the company signed by the company's lawyer with the stamp of trustee of the original. A written and up-to-date certificate from a lawyer, or accountant of the company, confirming that the signatory may bind the corporation and sign on its behalf.

To verify the signature of a company incorporated abroad, the following documents must be attached:

A certificate of incorporation or certificate of registration of the company, verified by an apostille.An up-to-date certificate from the lawyer or accountant of the corporation, confirming that the signatory may bind the corporation and sign on its behalf.

In countries that are not signatories to the Apostille Convention, the required documents must be verified as foreign public documents.
