The fourth politico-military dialogue (Pol-Mil Dialogue) between Israel and Japan took place in Israel on Tuesday, March 18. This is the first Pol-Mil dialog between the countries since November 2022.
On the Israeli side, the dialogue was headed by Dr. Uri Resnick, Deputy Director of Foreign Policy Division, NSC, Mr. Hagai Shagrir, Head of Asia Pacific Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Ilan Mazushan, Principal Deputy Director of the Political Military Bureau, Ministry of Defense. On the Japanese side, the dialogue was headed by Mr. ANDO Toshihide, Director General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. MORIKAWA Naoya, Director, Indo-Pacific Regional Policy Division, Bureau of Defense Policy in the Ministry of Defense.
The dialogue covered a wide range of regional issues and the evolving geopolitical landscape. Israel is fighting on seven fronts, utilizing all means to avoid civilian casualties while operating in full accordance with international law.
We clarified that Hamas’s refusal to two mediation proposals, led to the resumptions of military activities in Gaza. We also stressed the urgent need for the immediate release of all hostages held by Hamas in Gaza under inhumane conditions, and emphasized that there is no place for Hamas in Gaza and no tolerance for terror threats along our border.
