On June 19, the association “SetteOttobre” (October 7th) organized a screening of “Screams Before Silence” at the Farnese theater in Rome, a documentary on sexual violence committed by Hamas against Israeli women.

The documentary, about an hour long and produced by Kastina Communications and Sheryl Sandberg, bears witness to the tragedy of sexual abuses through the voices of the victims of October 7th and that of some hostages who were released after being in the hands of Hamas terrorists for 50 days.
“Screams before Silence” also includes the testimonies of medical and forensic experts who provided assistance to the survivors and identified the remains of the bodies of those who were murdered.

The documentary is in English and it is based on the desire to give voice to the women and girls who were raped, attacked and mutilated during the Hamas attack on 7 October, and to the risk of violence to which the hostages are still exposed today – women and men – as they are still detained in Gaza.
As Sheryl Sandberg stated: “We must demand justice and condemn the perpetrators and rapists responsible for this crime against all humanity (...) rape should never be used as an act of war.”

Among the most important testimonies, we find that of Amit Soussana, the first hostage to have spoken about the sexual abuse suffered during captivity in Gaza, and that of Agam Goldstein-Almog, the 17-year-old girl from kibbutz Kfar Aza who witnessed the killing of her father and her older sister before being taken to Gaza along with her mother and two little brothers. “At least half of the hostages I spoke to while in Gaza, had been sexually or physically abused, not to mention the fact that I was unable to speak to most of the girls who were held captive,” Agam said in her conversation with Sheryl Sandberg.
Thanks to director Anat Stalinsky, who attended the screening in Rome, to Kastina Communications and to Sheryl Sandberg for this very important documentary.
