Highlights of MASHAV's activities in Ghana between 2017 and 2019
January 2017 – MASHAV organized a training programme on Environmental Management of Natural Parks and Reserves. One cornerstone Training Course conducted in Israel, held at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies.
August 2017 – MASHAV organized a therapeutic football workshop in Ghana for 54 coaches from all over the country. The workshop focused on how to use sports in general and football in particular as a method of therapeutic education for youth with disabilities.
September 2017 – MASHAV Delegation visit to Ghana. In the context of the ECOWAS Summit, Prime Minister Mr. Benyamin Netanyahu promised to send a delegation of 4 representatives from different fields, amongst which MASHAV's Deputy Head, the Head of CINADCO (the Agricultural Branch of MASHAV), a security and a health expert, in an assessment mission to establish potential areas of cooperation for the next couple of years.
September 2017 – A MASHAV expert in irrigation and fertigation visited Ghana for over a week, in a mission to get to know the two GIZ Ghana teaching farms and to establish a joint program for the years to come with the GIZ as part of the Africa Initiative.
February 2018 – MASHAV Delegation visited Ghana for Emergency Medicine and Disaster Management. In cooperation with Ghana's Ministry of Health, the Israeli team was taken to meet all the relevant stakeholders in the field of emergency medicine. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the Emergency System in Ghana and to propose an assessment report to the Ghanaian government upon request.
June 2018 – MASHAV through Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs signs MoU with the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to begin the Foreign Trainees in Agriculture programme in Ghana. This is to allow young Ghanaian Agric students to benefit from an eleven-month agricultural training programme in Israel. The project is facilitated by Agro Studies in Israel.
July 2018 – MASHAV in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Network of Women in Growth (NEWIG), Amicus Onlus, Inner-City Development Foundation (IDF), and Oaks & Wuuds trained over 30 women from different career and social backgrounds for economic empowerment. The workshop focused on gender sensitivity, women as agents for change, women as business entrepreneurs, mentorship among others.
2019 – MASHAV in collaboration with the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation, MASHAV organized a capacity building workshop for female District Assembly aspirants. The workshop was led by Mrs Ilana Brand, an Israeli Consultant and Motivation Speaker. The participants were selected from various districts in the Greater Accra, Central and Volta regions. They were taken through lessons such as building their self-confidence; strategies for lobbying for votes in their local areas; strategies for effective advocacies on issues and policies that affect their local areas; communication & media strategies; and the rules governing the district assembly elections and fundraising.
