Below are highlights of MASHAV’s impact activities and initiatives in Ghana so far;
1959 – Dr. Kwabena Darko, CEO of Darko Farms became the first MASHAV Ghanaian beneficiary to be trained in Israel. Since then, he has contributed to creating a vibrant poultry industry in Ghana.
2001 – MASHAV established the first Trauma Unit in the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi.
2008 – MASHAV teamed up with the Kumasi Metropolitan Authorities and the Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI) to establish the first two Mother and Baby Care Units (MBUs) at Kumasi South Hospital (in 2008) and South Suntreso Hospital (2009). This project was envisioned and initiated by Prof. Miki Karplus, and every year a team of Doctors from the Soroka Medical Center/Ben Gurion University of the Negev visit the neonatal units for further evaluation and development.
2008 - MASHAV launched the Early Childhood Education programme in Kumasi in cooperation with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and MCI. This programme was replicated in 2012 in Accra and in Tamale in 2013.
February 2013 - A group of 20 teachers from Ghana travelled to Israel to attend a tailor-made course on Early Childhood Education.
May 2013 – Shalom Club was lunched in Ghana with 200 participants. This was to create a networking platform for all the MASHAV alumni who attend courses in Israel. Notable MASHAV alumni include the former Minister of Tourism, Hon. Ms. Akua Sena Dansua, Dr. Thomas Agyarko-Poku, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation, District and Regional Health Directors and other senior officials in the Ghanaian public sector and civil society.
May 2013 – MASHAV conducted two Citrus Training Workshops in Cape Coast, which covered topic areas such as required conditions for citrus growth, citrus varieties, factors militating against citrus production, citrus irrigation, citrus nutrition, and increasing yield, among others.
January/ February 2014 – MASHAV organized capacity building workshop for citrus growers in Koforidua and Kumasi. This was a collaboration with the GIZ Ghana, under the umbrella of the African Initiative (trilateral cooperation signed in 2010).
March 2016 – Former Minister of Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, participated in MASHAV's International Education Conference.
December 2016 – MASHAV organized a workshop on Sustainable Educational Leadership for leading kindergarten teachers in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale.
