H.E. Ben Bourgel

In August 2021, Ben Bourgel was appointed as the Ambassador of Israel to the Republic of Senegal, and concurrently serves as the Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Cape Verde, the Republic of Gambia, the Republic of Guinea, and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.

Ambassador Bourgel holds a degree in International and European Law and has also served as a staff officer in the Israeli army. He joined the Diplomatic School of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2008.

From 2011 to 2014, he served as Deputy Director of the Liaison Department at Israel's Permanent Mission to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, where he worked to strengthen economic and political relations between the European Union and Israel.

Between 2018 and 2021, Ambassador Bourgel held the position of Minister Counselor and Political Coordinator at Israel's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. In this role, he was responsible for strategic affairs, the Middle East, and Security Council matters, in addition to overseeing the Disarmament and Special Political Affairs Committees.

Ambassador Bourgel is also a trained lawyer. He earned a DEA in European and Community Law from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2000-2001, and a Master’s degree in International and European Law from the University of Paris 10 Nanterre in 1999-2000.

Ben Bourgel is married and has two children.
