His Excellency the Ambassador of Israel to Senegal

In August 2024, His Excellency Yuval Waks was appointed Ambassador of Israel to the Republic of Senegal. He is also the non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Cape Verde, the Republic of The Gambia, the Republic of Guinea, and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
Ambassador Waks brings extensive experience in international relations, strategic diplomacy, and legal affairs to his new role. His career reflects a deep commitment to diplomatic service and recognized expertise in managing bilateral and multilateral relations.
Prior to his appointment in Dakar, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Israeli Embassy in China from 2020 to 2024, where he played a key role in strengthening ties between the two nations in strategic areas such as economy, innovation, and technological cooperation. From 2018 to 2020, he was an advisor to the Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, contributing to the formulation of Israel's major diplomatic strategies.
His diplomatic career also took him to Thailand, where he served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok from 2015 to 2018. His legal expertise was honed early in his career at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he worked as an attorney in the Civil and Diplomatic Affairs Department from 2011 to 2012.
Ambassador Waks holds an LL.M. in Law from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2014) and an LL.B. from the same institution (2010). His academic background, combined with his diplomatic experience, enables him to approach international issues with rigor and strategic vision.
A polyglot, he is fluent in Hebrew, English, Spanish, and Chinese, an asset that gives him particular ease in intercultural exchanges and diplomatic dialogue.
Born in Israel, in Kibbutz Gazit, on July 8, 1980, Ambassador Yuval Waks is married and the father of five children. His commitment to Israeli diplomacy reflects a constant dedication to promoting peace, development, and cooperation between nations.
