H.E. Jonathan Peled, Designated Ambassador of Israel to Italy and San Marino.
Ambassador Jonathan Peled is as of September 2021 the Deputy Director General of the Foreign Ministry and Head of the Latin American & Caribbean Division.
Before assuming this position he was Israel’s interim Ambassador to Australia.
Between 2015-2019 he served as Ambassador of Israel to Mexico.
Between 2004-2006 as Ambassador of Israel to El Salvador.
He is the former Foreign Ministry Spokesman and former Spokesman for the Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C.
Ambassador Peled was Director of the Economic Department for North America, Latin America and Africa in the Foreign Ministry.
A career diplomat, he has held diplomatic postings in Turkey, Argentina, El Salvador and the U.S. (Washington, Miami).
Ambassador Peled has served as Policy Advisor to the Speaker of the Knesset and as Assistant Policy Advisor to Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, participating in the Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations following the Oslo Peace Accords.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992 following a brief military career in the Israeli Air Force (rank of Major).
Graduate of Tel Aviv University in Political Science and Economics.
Born in Jerusalem and raised in Kibbutz Neot Mordechai.
