Official visit of the Speaker of the Knesset, Amir Ohana, to Italy.
The Speaker of the Knesset, Amir Ohana, opened his visit to Italy with a meeting with the Union of Italian Jewish Communities (UCEI), followed by a visit to the Great Synagogue in Rome.
In a ceremony held in the Senate, Members of the Chambers gave a long round of applause to Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, after Senate President Ignazio La Russa announced his presence. “It is not just our 75th anniversary, it is also the 75th of Israel, and for this reason I asked my friend Amir Ohana, who is here with his partner, to honor us with his presence” – President La Russa said – “Thank you for being here and thank you for celebrating with us the 75 years of Italy and Israel”.
As part of the day of celebrations, the Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana also met the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella, the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the President of the Constitutional Court Silvana Sciarra, and the President of the Parliament Lorenzo Fontana.
On the occasion of his visit, the Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana, and the President of the Parliament Lorenzo Fontana inaugurated a new joint exhibition on the initiative of the Knesset, which will be set up in the Italian Parliament Building: “The Knesset and the Italian Parliament: 75 years of history and parliamentary democracy". The exhibition displays panels illustrating examples of the cordial relations between Israel and Italy, and the good collaboration between the two countries and their respective parliaments.
