Official visit of Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Eli Cohen to Italy
A very fruitful meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation between the Foreign Minister of Israel Eli Cohen and his Italian counterpart and Vice Prime Minister, Antonio Tajani.
Minister Cohen stressed that Italy is today one of Israel's main allies in Europe and thanked his colleague for his sincere friendship towards Israel and the Jewish people.
Minister Tajani reiterated the strong friendship that has always linked Italy to Israel on a political and economic level. He also stated that Israel's security is our priority for Italy and expressed solidarity for the cowardly terrorist attacks of recent weeks.
Finally, the two sides discussed issues of common interest such as regional security, water and energy. Issues of global relevance, which will be addressed directly by the two Governments, on the occasion of the next G2G between Italy and Israel, which will be held in Jerusalem in the future.
Minister Cohen subsequently met with the Vice PM and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini. Israel's Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, thanked the vice-PM for his "support to move the Italian embassy to Jerusalem".
