Israeli Artist Yoni Alter's new sculpture 'Love Continuum' is featured at Kensington and Chelsea's Art Trail
Guided by experimentation and semiotics, Israeli artist Yoni Alter playfully explores the threshold between art and design. Through his work, Alter seeks new ways of creating visual representations and utilises a variety of different media, often employing the urban landscape as his canvas. His vibrantly coloured works move between the figurative and the abstract, seamlessly traversing form and space.
Alter studied art and design in Jerusalem before completing his MA in graphic design at the University of the Arts London. His debut London exhibition at Kemistry Gallery in 2014 showcased a body of work that responded to the architecture of the surrounding landscape through strong silhouettes, bold colouring and Pop Art iconography. The artist has also designed graphic works for iconic brands such as Hermes and Karl Lagerfeld and has had his work exhibited in various public locations across London, including Canary Wharf and Wembley Park.
Alter’s ‘Love Continuum’ is a larger-than-life public sculpture situated in London’s Duke of York Square that celebrates the most important human emotion. The interactive artwork challenges viewers to examine an abstract squiggly line that morphs into the word ‘love’ when viewed from the right perspective. The sculpture is part of the Kensington and Chelsea Art Trail: a curated selection of public artworks throughout the borough that runs until the end of August 2024.
