Ambassador of Israel to the Kingdom of Denmark
David Akov has been serving as Ambassador of Israel to Denmark since August 2021.
David Akov joined the Israeli Foreign Ministry in 1985 and before arriving in Denmark, he served as Head of the Center for Policy Research at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jerusalem.
Before serving at the Center for Policy Research, David Akov served as Consul General of Israel in Mumbai, India (2014-2017), as Deputy Head of the Center for Policy Research (2008-2014), as Consul General of Israel in San Francisco, California (2004-2008), and as Director of U.S. Congressional Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jerusalem (2001-2004).
Mr. Akov also served as Counsellor for the Congressional Affairs at the Embassy of Israel in Washington D.C. (1994-2000), as Director of the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s diplomatic training program (1993-1995) and as Consul at the Israeli Consulate in Atlanta, Georgia (1989-1993).
A native Israeli, David Akov served in the Israel Defense Forces and then went on to earn a BA in Middle East History and an MA in Political Science and Political Thought from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
He is married to Tamar and they have three children.
