Ambassador Ron Prosor has been the ambassador of the State of Israel in Germany since August 22, 2022.

Prior to his position he was the head of the Abba Eban Institute of International Diplomacy at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) and as of February 2021 a Professor of Practice for International Diplomacy. Prior to joining the IDC, Prosor served as Israel's 16th Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2011 2015.

In his three decades with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Prosor carved out an international reputation as one of Israel's most distinguished diplomats. Between 2004 and 2007, Mr. Prosor served as the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, overseeing Israel's 2005 disengagement from Gaza.

Subsequently, Mr. Prosor spent four years as Israel's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, where he earned plaudits for his articulate and forthright defense of Israel's position, publishing numerous articles throughout the British press and addressing the widest possible range of audiences throughout the country.

Mr. Prosor's previous overseas service has included roles in Washington, London and Bonn. Mr. Prosor was instrumental in establishing diplomatic relations behind the Iron Curtain following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. He was also a member of Israel's delegation to the Wye River Summit talks in 1998 and served as the Minister-Counselor for Political Affairs at the Israeli Embassy in Washington.

As an officer in the Artillery Division of the IDF, Mr. Prosor attained the rank of Major and completed the IDF Battalion Commanders course. He holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he graduated with distinction.

A prolific writer and commentator, Mr. Prosor's op-eds have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Times, Ha'aretz, Yedioth Ahronoth and The Jerusalem Post.

In 2017 Mr. Prosor was awarded The Scholar-Statesman Award by the Washington Institute of Near East Policy.

In 2021 Mr. Prosor was awarded the title “Professor of Practice” by the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya for his expansive career in diplomacy and his contribution to educating the next generation of diplomats at the IDC.

Mr. Prosor is married to Hadas and they have three children, Lior, Tomer, and Oren, and four amazing grandchildren, Amit, Daniel, Dean and Yuval.

He speaks Hebrew, English and German.
