This service enables Israeli citizens and residents who are abroad to submit an application for a non-biometric Israeli travel document (passport)

Two recent photos (against a white background, with full front view of face, measuring 5x5 cm).
The travel document that is to be renewed.
A document proving Israeli citizenship – in case of an application for a first Israeli travel document.
Required presence at the Consulate
If the application is for a first travel document, the applicant must appear in person at the mission.
If the application is for the renewal of an expired document, the application together with the required documents can be sent by mail to the mission in the country where the applicant is staying.

Please note
• The DC Consular Department provides consular services to residents of Washington DC, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland and North Carolina only.
• Residents of Pennsylvania can receive service at the consulate general of Israel in New-York or DC.
Notice of the Population Authority:
• Israeli citizens who hold a foreign passport, and whose Israeli passport has expired, will be allowed to enter and leave the State of Israel with their foreign passport. This directive is valid until December 31st, 2024. The expired Israeli passport must be presented to border control upon entering Israel together with the valid foreign passport.
• An Israeli citizen who does not have a foreign passport and has an expired Israeli passport can use this passport to enter the State of Israel. This directive is valid until December 31st, 2024. This information must be verified with your airline you chose to fly with, as airlines may choose not to allow boarding with an expired travel document and airline may establish other procedures regarding the validity of travel documents.

• Biometric passports that are issued exclusively in Israel are issued up to a maximum of 10 years. Ordinary national passports issued abroad are issued up to a maximum of 5 years or according to eligibility. we do NOT renew Biometric biometric passports.
• Every Israeli citizen staying abroad, whether a minor or an adult, must always carry with him a valid Israeli travel document. The travel documents issued by the State of Israel to its citizens (passports and travel documents) are the property of the state and must be guarded.
• To emphasize that it is the duty of every Israeli citizen - according to law, to always enter and leave Israel with an Israeli travel document.
Renew passports for Adults:
• Adults (As of the age of 18) can renew a passport by mailing us all the necessary documents, in general, there is no need to come in person for service to the consular department.
• Citizens who have not visited Israel in the past 10 years are required to come in person to apply for travel document.
• An adult who wishes to renew a passport after his previous passport was issued to him while he was a minor, must appear in person. (Transition from a minor passport to a first- adult passport).
• When sending by mail, It is recommended to send by registered mail, we are not responsible for mail services.
• When sending by mail, it is mandatory to specify clear and readable contact information: phone numbers and email address, so that we can contact you if needed.

Renew passports for Minors:
• To renew a passport for a minor (up to the age of 18), the minor must be present with the parents at the embassy.
• If both parents of the minor are registered as married to each other in the population registry in Israel, then only one parent can come with the minor. It is recommended to send us a photocopy of both parents' passports in advance so we can verify this.
• Please book an appointment and come in person, parent(s) and children must be present.

Expected travel document issuance times:
• When appearing in person: as much as possible, we issue the passport on the spot (assuming there are no problems).
• Delivery by mail: The consular department is not responsible for postal services and for their schedules for bringing mail items or collecting mail items from the embassy. From the moment the envelope arrives at the consular department, usually up to 7 business days, we issue the passport and send it back to the sender. In most cases even less than that. • 79$ Renewing an adult passport.
• 42$ Renewing a minor passport - up to the age of 18.
• 12$ registered mail for return of the passport.

Important information:
• This service is provided only to Israeli citizens with an Israeli ID number.
• Requests that do not have all the necessary documents will not be processed and will be returned by mail back to sender / citizens.
• Citizens who have never held an Israeli passport or travel document are asked not to send a request by mail. You should contact the consular department by email for instructions, please attach a 9-digit Israeli ID number and personal details, you can attach photocopy of your ID if you have it.
• Applications for minor citizens under the age of 18 must include a passport photocopy of each parent. In addition, parents must sign the application form in the presence of a public notary.
• Citizens who have not visited Israel in the past 10 years are required to come in person to apply for travel document.
• New Olim who have lived in Israel for less than 3 years out of a period of 5 years are entitled to a laissez-passer and not for a passport.
• Citizens whose previous passports were lost or stolen are required to add a loss declaration to their request.
• An adult who wishes to renew a passport after his previous passport was issued to him while he was a minor, must appear in person. (Transition from a minor passport to a first- adult passport).
