MASHAV - Summary of activities 2022 - 2024

Since the beginning of the full scale invasion to Ukraine (February 24, 2022), Israel has been standing in solidarity with Ukraine and its people, providing unprecedented aid.

Here is  a glimpse into the remarkable efforts to facilitate this humanitarian aid:

MASHAV

PIONEERING INITIATIVE: Israel is the first country to establish a civilian field hospital. This beacon of hope, named "Kohav Meir," that was stationed in Lviv Region, Mostyska, next to the Ukrainian-Polish border,treated approximately 7000 patients from the region and refugees from the central and eastern parts of Ukraine. The dedicated Israeli medical volunteers, besides also conducted consultations through innovative online platforms.

CRITICAL TREATMENT ABROAD: For 7 cancer-stricken children, Israel offered a specialized treatment and renewed hope. Also, 14 soldiers, wounded in the line of duty, underwent comprehensive rehabilitation and prosthetic procedures in Israel.. These projects were organised and implemented by Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including MASHAV, together with Israeli Health Ministry, providing treatment in leading Israeli hospitals. The projects were coordinated by the Embassy of the State of Israel in Ukraine.

STRATEGIC SUPPORT: As part of the program of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, due to constant power outages, the Embassy of Israel, together with the State Emergency Service, opened an invincibility point in Kyiv.  The invincibility point operated during the winter and provided electricity, communication, internet, heating and water, as well as refreshments, later the equipment was transferred to the State Emergency Service.

HUMANITARIAN AID: Through an open humanitarian corridor, hundreds of tons of essential supplies including medicines, medical equipment, and winter provisions, have reached Ukrainian regions, some of them  at the request of the Ukrainian Health Ministry. Over 206,000 units of nourishing hot meals and hundreds of thousands of family-sized water containers had been provided sustenance to the displaced in de-occupied territoriesin addition 10 water treatment kits, each capable of servicing 100,000 people, enabled access to clean water.

INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT: From powerful generators enhancing essential services to state-of-the-art medical equipment enriching children's hospitals, Israel's aid extends beyond immediate relief to long-term resilience. 6 armoured MADA ambulances to a few regions has fortified Ukraine's emergency response capabilities, ensuring swift aid reaches civilians in need, regardless of location.

CAPACITY BUILDING AND KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE: Over 3,000 specialists have participated in online workshops, equipping communities with vital skills in trauma response and treatment, first aid, and addressing psychological trauma during crises. In addition, 250 professionals, in mental health, rehabilitation, and water management sectors, embarked on a transformative journey to Israel, and participated in professional workshops.

REHABILITATION SUMMIT: In a groundbreaking endeavor, the first Ukrainian-Israeli Rehabilitation Summit convened, uniting experts from esteemed Israeli institutions with Ukrainian leaders and veterans, fostering a collaborative approach to physical and mental healing.

IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE: In the aftermath of the dam bombing in Kherson, Israel sent a specialized delivery of food packages and water containers, swiftly addressing emergent needs.
