Verification of signature on documents at an Israeli mission abroad

This service is intended for a person requiring official confirmation that his signature appears on a document that is to be presented in Israel.

Tip

- Due to the limited size of the waiting room and the volume of visitors, a person who does not have an appointment or does not require consular services will not be permitted to enter the Consulate. This includes spouses and family members. Seniors, disabled individuals and minors requiring consular services may be escorted by one (1) other person.

- Every visitor is required to undergo a thorough security check before entering the waiting room. Security directives apply to all those who visit the Consulate. The instructions of the security staff must be obeyed at all times, throughout your visit to the Consulate.

- Do not bring any large bags with you to your appointment including large backpacks, suitcases or duffle bags. Personal purses or bags are allowed.

- Any electronic items (cellphones, headphones, electronic cigarettes, etc.) must be deposited in a safety deposit box (not affiliated with the Consulate) for a fee of $5.00 CAD. You will have access to your devices after your appointment.

- Any food, beverages and containers containing liquids are prohibited from entering the Consulate.

- Please come ready to administer your payment. Cash payments are not accepted - only debit/credit cards (excluding American Express).
Required presence at the Consulate
The person signing the documents must appear in person at the mission.
If the signatory is below age 18, he must come to the mission in the company of his parents or guardian. It is advisable to clarify whether the signatory needs to be accompanied by his parents before coming to the mission.

Who can apply

The application may be submitted by Israeli or foreign citizens wishing to sign a document for presentation in Israel, as well as on behalf of corporations or companies incorporated in Israel or abroad.

How to apply

You must present yourself at an Israeli mission in the country where you are staying, together with the original documents that need to be verified, as well as a passport or ID card or driver's license.


In a real estate transaction – the identification will be made solely by means of a valid passport or ID card.


Documents that are in a language not known to the representative or to the signatory:


If the language of the document is not known to the representative or to the signatory, a translation in a language that is understood by the signatory or by the representative must be attached together with a certified affidavit of the translator.
The translator's affidavit must state that the translator is proficient in both languages and that the translation is true to the original.


A translator's affidavit can be certified in one of the following ways:

  •  By the authorized diplomatic representative, as a separate notarial act
  • By a local notary. The affidavit must be duly certified (apostille or authentication by the local foreign ministry). 
  •   By an Israeli lawyer or notary.
     

Verification of signature on behalf of a corporation or company incorporated in Israel – the following documents should be attached:

  • Certificate of incorporation or certificate of registration of the company, duly certified (apostille or authentication by the local foreign ministry).
  • An up-to-date written confirmation by the company's lawyer or accountant that the signatory is authorized to bind the company and to sign on its behalf.
     
    Verification of signature on behalf of a company incorporated abroad 
     the following documents should be attached:
  •   Certificate of incorporation or certificate of registration of the company, duly certified (apostille or authentication by the local foreign ministry).
  • An up-to-date written confirmation by the company's lawyer or accountant that the signatory is authorized to bind the company and to sign on its behalf.


If the person signing before the consul is a minor, he must present a guardian's approval or a court's approval prior to signing.

Information

The Israeli diplomatic and consular missions abroad have the responsibility to advise, guide and help the consular service recipient to handle matters abroad. The Consulate of Israel in Toronto provides consular services to residents of Ontario and Western Canada, including the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, and Nunavut.

Consular services are provided to those who attend their appointment in person, as well as those who mail in their documents. Some services (as described below) cannot be completed without attending the Consulate location in person.

Please note: appointments will not be scheduled by phone.​

For the following services, you must attend the Consulate in person:

  • Notification of an Israeli born abroad
  • First-time applicants for any Israeli passport or travel documents, irrespective of age
  • Renewal or extension of a passport of a minor (the minor is required to attend the Consulate in person as well)
  • Changing of personal status i.e. marriage, divorce.
  • Notarization of legal documents in front of the Consul
  • Reporting and renewal of a lost or damaged Israeli passport or travel document
  • Request to renounce Israeli citizenship
  • Request for any name change

Instructions for those entering Israel:    

  • Canadian citizens entering Israel for visits of up to three months are required to carry a valid Canadian passport with an expiry date of at least six (6) months beyond the intended departure.
  • For entry into Israel for purposes other than a visit of up to 3 months or for individuals with citizenship other than Canadian, a valid travel document with an expiration date of at least six (6) months beyond the intended departure is necessary. In addition, a visa is required.

For Consular Services in the rest of Canada:

The Consulate General of Israel in Montreal is responsible for Eastern Canada (Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador).
The Embassy of Israel in Ottawa is responsible for the eastern part of Ontario (Ottawa up to and including​ Kingston)

The Consular Section is open to the public by appointment only from Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM (excluding holidays)

  • Passport pick-up: Monday to Friday, 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM with prior confirmation only.
  • Telephone Reception Hours: Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM at 416-640-8505. You may leave a voice message.
  • For questions regarding military issues: Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM.
