Last Monday night, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) achieved a significant milestone in their ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and recover hostages, successfully completing an operation to recover the bodies of hostages in the Khan Yunis area.

The operation resulted in the recovery and return to Israel of the bodies of six Israeli hostages that were kidnapped by Hamas terrorists from their homes during the October 7 massacre, and their bodies were found in a tunnel shaft approximately 10 meters deep.

During the operation, the IDF personnel meticulously investigated and neutralized various obstacles, including blast doors, weapons, explosives, and hideouts utilized by the terrorists. The mission followed extensive combat in a densely populated area with multi-story buildings, where Israeli forces engaged in operations that led to the elimination of terrorists and the dismantling of terrorist infrastructure.

An IDF spokesperson commented, “The Hamas terror organization had been holding the bodies of these six hostages in a tunnel beneath Khan Yunis, within an area that was previously designated as a Humanitarian Area by the IDF. Hamas continues to hold another 109 hostages, including children, women, and the elderly, under brutal conditions inside Gaza.”

Ambassador of Israel to Thailand, Ms. Orna Sagiv, said: “I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the hostages and reaffirm Israel’s commitment to the ongoing fight against terrorism and the release of all remaining hostages still held in the Gaza Strip. Israel will continue to fight for the right of all its citizens to be safe from terror and will do everything in its power to bring all hostages, Israeli and foreigners alike, back home to their families”
