Ifat Reshef was born in the city of Hadera and raised in the coastal city of Netanya in Israel. She is a graduate of Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Law, and received an LLM Master degree of law from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

She is a veteran career diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Israel, which she joined in 1993. Her early diplomatic posts abroad were at the Israeli embassies in Cairo and Rome, after which she worked at the Foreign Ministry’s Center for Policy Research.

She returned to the Israeli Embassy in Cairo as Deputy Chief of Mission.

Following her second term in Egypt she served as Director of Department at Center for Policy Research. Ambassador Reshef also served  at the Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C as Minister for Political Affairs with a specialization in the Middle East.

Following her post to Washington she served as Director of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Three years ago she was appointed as Head of the Middle East Bureau of the Center for Policy Research (2018-2021) before being nominated as Israel’s new Ambassador to Switzerland.​
