The State of Israel and the Government of Rwanda have been enjoying strong ties over the years. The relations of both countries received a major boost when Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, visited Rwanda in 2016, a visit that was followed by the visit of Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame to the Holy Land in 2017.
April 2019 marked a historic moment in the relations of both countries, whereby, for the first time in history, a resident Ambassador of Israel was appointed to Rwanda. During the same year, Rwandan Air launched direct flights between Tel Aviv and Kigali, increasing business and tourism ties between the two countries.
Currently, Israel and Rwanda enjoy excellent cooperation in areas of agriculture, ICT and innovation, education, energy, defense and security, among others.
The Political Department at the Embassy of Israel in Rwanda develops and maintains the bilateral relationship between Israel and Rwanda.
