The department is in charge of issuing travel documents and visas, providing assistance to citizens and commercial companies, providing notary services, ensuring and protecting the basic interests and rights of the state and its citizens, assisting citizens in dealing with Panamanian authorities, transferring legal documents between the states, among other things.
