FM Sa'ar represented Israel at the Munich Security Conference

FM Sa’ar conducted an extensive series of policy discussions with numerous prominent foreign ministers and heads of state from around the world.

 


 

Fm Saar represented Israel at the Munich security conference

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar represented Israel at the Munich Security Conference, which is regarded as the foremost global conference on security and political issues.

On the sidelines of the conference, FM Sa’ar engaged in an extensive series of policy discussions with numerous foreign ministers, prominent heads of state, and other senior officials from around the world.

Listed below are some of the key meetings he conducted:

FM Sa’ar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and stressed the need for a balanced Chinese foreign policy in relation to the Middle East, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the necessity of increasing economic pressure on Iran.

FM Sa’ar discussed with Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar the implementation of Trump's vision for enhancing connectivity between Asia, Europe and the US with routes passing through Israel. The two parties discussed the impact on trade routes caused by the Houthis and Iran. FM Sa’ar highlighted the importance of Israel's relationship with India.   

FM Sa’ar met with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrow and discussed, among other things, the ceasefire on the northern border and developments in Lebanon and Syria.

FM Sa’ar also met with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Fiji, Sitiveni Rabuka, who conveyed his intention to seek his government's approval this week for establishing an embassy in Jerusalem.

FM Sa’ar also met with Friedrich Merz, head of the German Christian Democratic Union party, who is currently the leading candidate for the position of Chancellor of Germany, as well as with German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck.

FM Sa’ar also held discussions with Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, who agreed to consider his request to facilitate the resumption of direct flights from Canada to Israel.

Additionally, FM Sa’ar had meetings with various foreign ministers and other global leaders, including the Prime Minister of Albania, the exiled president-elect of Venezuela, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, the Bulgarian Foreign Minister, the chairman of the US Congressional Foreign Affairs Committee, the UN envoy to Syria and more.
