FM Sa’ar meeting with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Schoof

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar was invited to the Prime Minister's residence for a personal meeting that took place in a friendly atmosphere.

PM Schoof described the attacks against Israelis in Amsterdam as a “turning point” and expressed a clear commitment to bringing the criminals to justice.

The two agreed on the necessity and urgency required in the fight against rising antisemitism, exchanged ideas on the subject, and agreed to cooperate.
It should be noted that PM Schoof announced earlier in the day that he was canceling his participation in the climate conference in Baku and would remain in the Netherlands due to the serious events in Amsterdam. At the meeting, he presented the discussions on the subject that will take place in the coming week in the Dutch parliament and other forums.

FM Sa’ar said that brutal attacks on Jews and Israelis after they were asked to present identification documents (passports) that would prove their identity are reminiscent of dark periods in history and that Israel will not be able to accept the persecution of Jews and Israelis on European soil.

FM Sa'ar emphasized that the new antisemitism is focused on denying the Jewish state's right to exist and its right to self-defense.

FM Sa’ar: “This antisemitism is expressed by the attack on Israel at UN institutions and international legal institutions that are used politically. The goals are the same – delegitimization of Israel and undermining its right to self-defense. This has not been done against any other democracy."

FM Sa’ar thanked PM Schoof for his friendship and support of Israel and invited him to pay an official visit to Israel.
