How to apply

You must submit the application in person at an Israeli mission in the country where you are staying.

  • The forms and documents required by the mission must first be sent by email, for a preliminary examination prior to your arrival at the mission.

  • When one spouse is an Israeli citizen and the other is a foreign citizen, a certified apostille certificate (from the country of origin) indicating the previous personal situation of the foreign spouse must also be presented.
  •  In countries where it is not possible to obtain a public certificate attesting to a previous personal situation and/or any other document:
  • A notarized statement of the foreign citizen on his previous personal situation must be prepared, signed before the consul (or before a notary). In addition, a certificate from the consul must be attached stating that in the country/province it is not possible to obtain an official certificate indicating a previous personal situation.
  • A marriage certificate in which a previous personal situation is recorded meets the requirement, when it is verified.
  •  It is also possible to present a marriage certificate issued in Israel, in which the previous personal status of the foreigner is recorded

Please note

In case of marriage, the passports of both spouses must be presented.

If the certificate was issued abroad, it must be authenticated as required (with an apostille stamp in countries where this exists).
