Nepali MASHAV Graduate receives Grant from Israel for Dairy Innovation

Nepali MASHAV graduate has been awarded a MASHAV Grant of US$ 10,000 by the State of Israel.

A MASHAV Graduate from Nepal, Mr. Ang Phurba Sherpa, has been awarded a MASHAV Grant of US$ 10,000 (NPR 13 lakhs 40 thousand) by the State of Israel. Mr. Sherpa, who participated in the MASHAV Course on “Dairy Production at Low Cost” in Israel in 2022, submitted an innovative proposal that earned him this prestigious grant. Mr. Sherpa received the grant cheque from H.E. Mr. Hanan Goder, Ambassador of Israel. With this funding, he has purchased advanced Neck-Collar Sensors from the Israeli company- Allflex Global, that can detect heat and monitor the health of cows at his Salaka Dairy Farm. The farm has 160 cows and 1 bull. This technology will help in enhancing the management of dairy cows and significantly boost milk production. In addition to the MASHAV accomplishments, he has previously spent eight years in Israel working in agriculture. 
Subsequently, the Honorable Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ram Nath Adhikari and Hon. Member of House of Representative, Santosh Chalise, visited the farm on 20 August, accompanied by Ambassador Goder and Deputy Chief of Mission Ms. Janan Bebar. During the visit, Minister Adhikari praised Mr. Sherpa’s efforts in advancing dairy practices in Nepal, highlighting the positive impact of MASHAV’s training programs on Agriculture of Nepal.
