Agricultural Affairs

The European market is Israel’s primary target for exporting fresh and processed agricultural products. The vast majority of agricultural trade is conducted under the Association Agreement, which provides customs duty benefits for import and export trade between Israel and EU Member States.

The Agriculture Department at the Mission of Israel to the European Union serves as a vital extension of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, representing the interests of Israel's agricultural sector within the EU.

For many years, Israel and the EU have maintained dynamic trade relations in both fresh and processed agricultural products. To enhance this trade, both parties are committed to reducing barriers, such as tariffs and Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures.

In the event of occasional trade disruptions, the Agriculture Department works closely with both importers and exporters to resolve issues swiftly and efficiently.

The department also assists Israeli entrepreneurs seeking to enter new EU markets, connecting them with potential agents, distributors, importers, and industry associations. Additionally, it provides regulatory guidance when needed. The Agriculture Department is actively engaged in promoting Israeli fresh agricultural products, tailored to local demands and in collaboration with regional partners.

Beyond these activities, the department also contributes to Israel’s involvement in the OECD, further strengthening its role in global agricultural initiatives.
