International Holocaust Remembrance Day, 2025

Today, the world remembers the 6 million. Together, let's promise "Never Again".

 International Holocaust Remembrance Day

On January 27, the Embassy of Israel in Yangon held a solemn commemoration to honor the victims of the Holocaust on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The ceremony began with heartfelt remarks from Mr. Sammy Samuels, Head of the Jewish Community in Myanmar, followed by statements from U Ye Htet Aung, Head of the United Nations Information Center. Mr. Nicolò Tassoni Estense di Castelvecchio, Head of Mission of the Embassy of Italy, also shared moving words, as did Mr. Yoed Magen, Head of Mission a.i. of the Embassy of Israel.

A poignant screening of a short film on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz was shown to reflect the historical significance of the day.

Six candles were lit in memory of the six million Jewish victims, with each candle lit by distinguished guests, including representatives from the Czech Republic, Myanmar, the United States, and Israel.

The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence and a powerful rendition of "Shma Israel," covered by Ko George, marking the end of this solemn remembrance.
