On December 20, 2024, the Embassy of Israel in Myanmar held a meaningful ceremony commemorating the "Exodus of the Jews from Arab Countries" at the Mesmuah Yeshua Synagogue in Yangon.

The program began with a short introduction by Ambassador Rogel Rachman on the topic and a video clip was screened following the introduction, providing historical context into the Jewish diaspora and their experiences.

Mr. Sammy Samuels, the Head of the Jewish Community in Myanmar, presented about the history of the Baghdadi Synagogue in Rangoon, highlighting its role in the community.

Ambassador Rachman also shared a few words regarding the current situation of hostage Shlomo Mansour, showing solidarity and hope for his safe release.

The ceremony proceeded with the symbolic lighting of the Hanukkah candle, carried out by both Ambassador Rachman and Mr. Samuels.

This ceremony served as a reminder of the resilience and heritage of the Jewish community in Myanmar.
