The Israeli Population and Immigration Authority is introducing the ETA-IL system: visitors from visa-exempt countries can apply for a travel permit. Eligible persons can travel to Israel and stay there for a maximum of 90 days.
From June 1, 2024, the ETA-IL system will be open for applications as a pilot program only for holders of American and German passports. During the pilot phase, the application is voluntary and free of charge. The system will be opened to visitors from all visa-exempt countries on July 1, 2024.
The pilot period, which started on the 1 st of June 2024, will be extended for an additional five months, until 31 December 2024.
Accordingly, as of the 1 st of January 2025, nationals of visa-exempt countries must have an ETA-IL approval prior to their flight to Israel. Holders of official passports from visa-exempted countries are not required to submit the ETA-IL form (It is expected that if the purpose of their visit is tourism, they will submit the ETA-IL form).
