Bilateral relations

Israel-Jordan bilateral relations have developed into a strong partnership, characterized by shared stratigic relations,  proximity and mutual interests.


 

Israel and Jordan have had diplomatic relations since the signing of the Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty in 1994. 

The peace treaty addressed various issues including borders, security, and water sharing. 

It also established diplomatic relations, leading to the opening of embassies in each other's capitals.

Ever since the State of Israel's establishement in 1948, she has been in state of war with the neighnour that shared more of Israel's norder than any other country - Jordan. That state of war ended with the Washinton Declaration of 25 July 1994 and finally put into effect on the ground, 8 August 19994, in the Arava.
