Visit of Minister Nir Barkat to Italy

Among the events on the agenda, the commemoration of Yom Ha Shoah at the Shoah Foundation Museum in Rome and the meeting with the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and with the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti.

From 5 to 8 May, the Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat, together with a delegation of Knesset members, MK Bismut and MK Nir, went to Rome and Milan for an official visit to Italy.

On the morning of May 6, the Minister took part in the Yom Ha Shoah commemoration ceremony, held in Rome at the Shoah Foundation Museum.

There were two significant moments: the laying of wreaths in front of the plaque commemorating the deportation of Rome's Jews on 16 October 1943 and the delivery of the Righteous Among the Nations medal to the daughters of Albino Scorzoni and Teresa Baldoncini who, in the darkest moment of history of humanity, saved Emma and Giuseppe Spagnoletto in the Garbatella neighborhood.

In the afternoon of the same day, Minister Barkat met with the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti.

During the meetings, full solidarity with Israel was reiterated for the terrible suffering caused by Hamas in its criminal attack on 7 October.

In terms of their respective ministerial responsibilities, in both meetings, the desire to increase economic and commercial relations and strengthen cooperation between the industrial clusters of the two countries was underlined, with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence, Cleantech, Space, Cyber ​​security, Agri-food.
