The 18th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, curated by the architect, professor and writer Lesley Lokko, opened to the public on May 20th. Defined by the curator as a great "laboratory of the future", this year's Architecture Biennale puts into practice the idea of an alternative to rediscover meaning in our present, through modernity and construction. Architectural solutions for a different world are presented, which investigate the social and the concept of community as an agent of change from which to start.

Based on these inputs, the Israeli Pavilion, located within the Biennale Gardens, hosts the cloud-to-ground exhibition.

The project was born from an investigation into technology and the fourth industrial revolution of modern communication networks and the Cloud - the technological cloud, through the singular case of Israel and its surroundings. The building appears sealed and empty, this is actually a curatorial choice whereby the pavilion itself is part of the elements on display. In the garden at the back of the pavilion, there are five installations that reproduce the now obsolete telephone exchange buildings. Each one of them emits a particular sound based on original samples recorded in the same buildings.
