The visit of the Israeli Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Ofir Akunis to Italy was characterized by a dense and rich agenda of very important meetings for the strengthening and development of bilateral collaboration in the field of scientific research.
The Minister addressed crucial issues for the challenges of the future, such as the fight against climate change, the role of AI, the use of increasingly advanced technologies in the agricultural field, and the importance of the blue economy, both with representatives of institutions and with the top management of leading companies in the space sector.
On the institutional side, Minister Akunis met with the Vice PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, the Italian Minister for University and Research Anna Maria Bernini, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli, and the President of the CNR National Research Council Maria Chiara Carrozza.
He also met private companies such as Leonardo, which in recent years has established important collaborative relationships with Israel for the development of startups in areas such as space, security and defense, and Thales Alenia Space, to which Minister Akunis reiterated the importance of cybersecurity and edge computing for collaboration in Space Technology.
