MASHAV- Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation: Role
MASHAV- Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation at Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs was founded in 1957, and is responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of the State of Israel's development cooperation programs. MASHAV is committed to global efforts of achieving sustainable development, adaptation to climate change and ensuring Food Security. In events of natural disasters MASHAV provides humanitarian assistance and participates in reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.
· MASHAV focuses on Human capacity building and "Training the Trainers" as the best way to achieve maximum impact and sustainable growth.
· MASHAV operates according to international agreed standards and principles, particularly demand driven programs, country program ownership and alignment to national development programs
Main sectors of activity:
· Agriculture and Rural Development: Water management for adaptation to climate change, combating desertification, irrigation and water efficiency, Livestock and dairy milk development, applied research, IPM- Integrated Pest Management, Post-Harvest Management and Storage
· Socio- Economic Development: Women empowerment and Gender equality, Developing small and medium enterprises, Community Development
· Rural and Urban Development: Urban renewal, Urbanization management, Rural Development models
· Education: Early childhood Development, Science and Technology, Youth at-risk education

Shalom Club
MASHAV maintains contact with former course participants through its network of over 70 locations worldwide, which serve as a forum for MASHAV alumni to organize professional and social activities, to exchange ideas and to stay informed about Israel and MASHAV affairs. Activities, organized by Shalom Clubs, vary from professional workshops, B2B meetings, raising funds for local charities to community development and humanitarian acts. Members of the Shalom Clubs play an integral role in determining the focus and scope of Club's activities.

Agriculture Cooperation
Amongst the many fields in which Israel and India collaborate, agriculture has always been front and centre. This cooperation includes structured interactions between governments, experts and most important – farmers. This comprises of bilateral sharing of knowledge and technologies, establishment of Centres of Excellence in various agriculture sectors across India, exchange visits of experts and farmers and Post-doctoral scholarships for Indian agriculture researchers in Israel.
