NEXT STOP: ISRAEL Israeli University Fair and Gap Year Programs
Houston, TX – On Thursday, November 21st, the Consulate General of Israel to the Southwest collaborated with the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston and the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center (ERJCC) to host the NEXT STOP: ISRAEL Israeli University Fair and Gap Year Programs at the Merfish Teen Center in Houston. This groundbreaking event provided local students, parents, and young professionals with a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of educational and cultural experiences in Israel.
This was the first-ever college fair and gap year event of its kind in the region. From 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, attendees were able to engage with representatives from some of Israel’s top universities, including Reichman University, Hebrew University, Tel Aviv University, Bar-Ilan University, Technion Institute, and the University of Haifa.
In addition, a variety of organizations offering gap year and short-term study programs were on hand to discuss opportunities for immersive experiences in Israel. Participating organizations included Southwest NCSY, the National Conference of Synagogue Youth, Olami Launch, Masa Israel Journey, Jewish National Fund, and StandWithUs.
The event provided a comprehensive look at both undergraduate and graduate academic programs, along with gap year and semester opportunities that enable students to explore Israel’s vibrant culture, academic excellence, and diverse landscapes. It was aimed at high school seniors, college students, graduate students, young professionals, parents, and educators interested in expanding their educational horizons through academic study or cultural exchange in Israel.
