Yesterday (October 7, 2024) evening, the Consulate General of Israel in Hong Kong marked the one year of October 7 attack by Hamas terrorists to commemorate the 1,200 Israeli men, women, and children brutally murdered.
This symbolic and important memorial ceremony in Hong Kong was attended by over 300 guests including diplomats, members of the Israeli and Jewish community, and friends from the Christian and business communities in Hong Kong.
During the ceremony, Consul General of Israel Amir Lati said there are still 101 captives in the brutal Gaza tunnels of Hamas under the most inhumane conditions. A war was instigated upon Israel and Israel is fighting against a ruthless foe that continually declared that they would repeat the October 7 attack again and again and wipe the State of Israel off the map. The only viable solution in the Middle East is peace and co-existence between moderate parties.
Live zoom testimonies from Israel were shared by a representative of hostages families to raise the awareness of the hostages in Gaza and about her personal story of a family member being captive in Gaza and released during the hostage deal last November.
A short clip from a documentary film was shown to pay tribute to a 22-year-old Israeli woman, a news reporter who was fleeing the NOVA music festival and in the end murdered. While hiding in the roadside bomb shelter, she recorded with her cell phone minute by minute the moments of horror that took place in the shadow of death for three hours until her battery ran out, until she took her last breath.
May the memory of the victims be a blessing. #rememberoctober7
