In his speech, Consul General of Israel in Hong Kong Mr. Amir Lati said this year marked 77 years since the establishment of the State of Israel, the realization of the historic dream of the Jewish people returning to the ancestral homeland.

He said, since the terrorist attack on October 7th, Israel is facing a reality where the fight against terrorism and radicalism continues, with the clear goal to cultivate a more moderate Middle East that opens pathways for coexistence and the expansion of the Abraham Accords. People of Israel are still awaiting the return of 55 hostages - some for a proper burial, others for rehabilitation.

Mr. Lati believes there is vast growth potential between Israel and Hong Kong in trade and tech collaboration especially in healthcare, fintech, green technologies and more. Hong Kong continues to be one of Israel's leading trade partners in Asia, with bilateral trade reaching $4 billion USD. Israel is also one of the top trade destinations for Hong Kong in the Middle East, with average annual growth rate of trade 9.1% from 2020 to 2024.

The Israeli tech sector still shows resilience and growth even against the backdrop of the recent events. Mr. Lati emphasized that the largest transaction in Israel’s tech history was made this year, as the Israeli tech industry remains robust, with more than 8000 companies and 20% of global AI startups.
