MASHAV

The Israel Agency for International Development Cooperation (Mashav) has one of its branches in Guatemala, where it carries out various cooperation projects and provides training to different institutions and organizations.

Founded in 1958 when Israel was 10 years old as a state, under the vision of Foreign Minister Golda Meir and Prime Minister David Ben Gurion. The objective is to share with developing countries the knowledge and technology that served as the basis for Israel's rapid development, despite its limited natural resources.

It is present in more than 140 countries and has trained more than 300,000 professionals worldwide.

In Guatemala, Mashav has awarded more than 6,000 scholarships to professionals from all over the country in areas such as Health, Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Public Safety, Journalism and Communication.

One of the flagship projects of the Israel Agency in Guatemala has been the inauguration in 2022 of the Center for Agricultural Modernization with Israeli technology. This center is located in the facilities of the ENCA Agricultural School in Barcenas, Villa Nueva. Israeli experts have trained more than 1,500 farmers, extensionists and technicians in topics such as agricultural modernization systems, irrigation systems, water management, greenhouses and plants, among many others.

Weekly webinars are conducted to strengthen and expand knowledge in different areas of study in which Mashav works. These virtual lectures or training sessions are led by Israeli experts in the field or Israeli alumni who replicate the knowledge acquired in Israel.
