As part of the initiatives to expand the State of Israel’s partnership in the agricultural sector in Ghana, the Israeli Economic and Trade Mission hosted a breakfast meeting on the theme “Enhancing Ghana’s Aquaculture Sector; Leveraging Innovative Technologies from Israel.”
As part of the initiatives to expand the State of Israel’s partnership in the agricultural sector in Ghana, the Israeli Economic and Trade Mission hosted a breakfast meeting on the theme “Enhancing Ghana’s Aquaculture Sector; Leveraging Innovative Technologies from Israel.”
The Forum was organized in collaboration with the Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana. It brought together stakeholders from government, private sector and academia to discuss opportunities and challenges in the aquaculture industry in Israel and Ghana. It also introduced participants to some of the innovative Israeli technologies that can enhance aquaculture production in Ghana.
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Aviel Avraham, Deputy Chief of Mission highlighted some of Israel’s agricultural initiatives in Ghana and emphasized on the need for more collaborations and exchange of knowledge to achieve remarkable progress for a thriving aquaculture sector in Ghana.
“Our agricultural initiatives in Ghana have focused on knowledge transfer, capacity building, and the introduction of cutting-edge technologies. Through various collaborations, we have worked hand in hand with the government of Ghana, policymakers and the private sector to share best practices and technological advancements.”
He added that “This collaborative engagement is embodied in the many training programs, workshops, and joint ventures we have established over the years. Key amongst these is our ongoing Foreign Trainees in Agriculture Programme - an 11-Month agricultural training programme for Agricultural graduate students from Ghana to visit Israel for studies and work. Our MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Development have also been involved in training several professionals in the agricultural sector in diverse fields.”
Dr. Kwadwo Kesse Mireku, Lecturer in Aquaculture and Aquatic Environmental Science at the University of Cape Coast, introduced the Israeli companies to the prospects in the Aquaculture sector in Ghana.
Participating Israeli companies for the forum include Raanan Fish Feed, AquaMaof, Aquaculture Technologies Limited, Phibro Animal Health corporation, AquaGreen and NanoClear Water Solutions.
