Recommendations for travelers

ECUADOR FLAG

In accordance with the guidelines of the Ecuadorian government, those entering the country through the land border crossings (as well as through the sea) from Colombia and Peru must present a certified certificate of integrity with an stamp. However, the new procedure is not valid for those entering the country by flight.
Due to the complexity of the procedure for issuing the certificate, and the long time it takes, we recommend entering Ecuador by flight only.

The state of emergency declared in Ecuador at the beginning of January 2024 has ended. However, the struggle between law enforcement and criminal gangs continues. Certain areas are still considered dangerous and it is recommended not to go there unnecessarily. In some areas of Ecuador, the military is deployed in the streets to help the police forces maintain order.

For those staying in Ecuador, we recommend driving with extra caution and obeying the instructions of the local security authorities. It is recommended to follow the instructions of the authorities in Ecuador and the media.

In addition, we recommend avoiding reaching the border area with Colombia (staying at least 20 kilometers away from the border), as well as avoiding unnecessarily reaching the following districts:

• Esmeraldas

• Manabí

• Santa Elena

• Guayas (including Guayaquil city)

• El Oro

• Los Ríos

• Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas
