Shalom, Yia sas and welcome to the official website of the Embassy of Israel in Cyprus.

The Embassy’s mission is to advance in Cyprus, the interests of the State of Israel, while serving as a liaison between the governments and peoples.

Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1960, the bilateral cooperation has flourished, building upon centuries-old historical connections.

A landmark in the historic relations between the two nations are the Detention Camps for Jewish Refugees, set up by the British authorities, in order to prevent Jews from settling in British Mandate Palestine. Between August 1946 and February 1949, more than 52,000 Jews, most of them Holocaust survivors, were detained in the Cyprus camps, which became the birth place of more than 2,200 Jewish babies.

The Cypriots showed compassion and opened their hearts to the plight of the interns, helping and assisting as much as they could, and the Camps became a symbol of the true friendship between the two peoples.

In recent years, Israel and Cyprus have forged a strategic partnership across various sectors, including defense and security, emergency response healthcare, business, innovation and energy.

Both countries share the same goal: to promote prosperity and welfare through collaborations and synergies.
