Posts for Famagustans

On this day, August 14th 1946, exactly 78 years ago, the first detention camp for Jewish refugees and Holocaust Survivors opened in British-ruled Cyprus, in the Caraolos area of Famagusta.

Marking this occasion, the Embassy will be posting, today and in the coming days, a series of testimonial videos featuring Cypriots from Famagusta, who assisted Jewish refugees, to remind us all of their incredible selfless acts of bravery and humanity.
