On the occasion of Yom HaShoah, Israeli Holocaust Remembrance Day, ambassador Gary Koren hosted in his residence a gathering known as „Zikaron BaSalon“ – „Memory in the Living Room“. It was our pleasure to host our guest of honor, Holocaust survivor, Mr. Darko Fischer, whose saviour, the late Kamilo Firinger, Ambassador Koren had the privilege of awarding the title of Righteous Among the Nations.
On the occasion of Yom HaShoah, Israeli Holocaust Remembrance Day, ambassador Gary Koren hosted in his residence a gathering known as „Zikaron BaSalon“ – „Memory in the Living Room“. It was our pleasure to host our guest of honor, Holocaust survivor, Mr. Darko Fischer, whose saviour, the late Kamilo Firinger, Ambassador Koren had the privilege of awarding the title of Righteous Among the Nations.
After hearing Mr. Fischer's story, the Ambassador and the audience signed the Survivors' Declaration, confirming the recommitment to its messages and legacy. More detail about the Declaration can be found at the following LINK.
We would like to use this opportunity to once again thank Mr. Fischer, as well as representatives from the Jewish communities of Zagreb, Osijek and Karlovac, the Shoah Academy, the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, as well as the AZOO.
