Ambassador of Israel to Chile

Gil Artzyeli was born in Israel, a fifth-generation Jerusalemite on his father's side and from England on his mother's side.
He graduated from Tel Aviv University's Faculty of Law and is a lawyer. He completed four years of military service in the IDF, obtaining the rank of Captain. In 1994, he joined the Israeli Diplomatic Service.
He has served as Consul to Colombia (1995-1998), Spokesperson at the Israeli Embassy in Spain (1998-2000), Deputy Chief of Mission to Mexico (2003-2005), Deputy Consul General in Los Angeles, USA (2008-2012), Ambassador to Panama (2015-2018), and Ambassador to Chile (2022 to present).
During his tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, he served as Director of the Diplomatic Cadet Course (2001-2003), Advisor to the European Department (2005-2008), Director at the Office of the Inspector General (2012-2015), and Director of the Economic Department for Europe (2019-2022).
In 2018, Ambassador Artzyeli took an administrative leave to join an Israeli firm specializing in AI as Vice President.
He is married to Viviana, who was born in Colombia, and has twins, a daughter and a son.
He is fluent in Hebrew, Spanish, and English.
