The Israeli Embassy in Yaounde is in charge of bilateral relations based on political, economic, commercial and cultural ties.
The Embassy has jurisdiction in five countries of the Central African sub-region: Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Gabon and Republic of Congo.
The State of Israel realized quite early after its independence that with very little natural resources, the key to developing a sustainable economy laid in the promotion of Science, Research and Innovation.
The challenges for the economic development of Cameroon and the neighboring countries are not exactly similar. However, Israel realized that the promotion of Education, research and science was urgent for at least three reasons.
Firstly, to develop the know-how necessary to transform Central African countries’ bountiful natural resources.
Secondly, to develop the rich potential that youth have in information and computer technology and promote a successful technology industry in the Central African sub-region.
Thirdly to contribute to the diversification of these countries’ economy.
With the aim of promoting Cameroon's development and the one of neighboring countries, the Israeli Embassy's vision is to strengthen the excellent cooperation already existing between Cameroon and the countries it covers, by implementing sustainable projects, organizing long- and short-term activities, and on-the-spot training courses.
