Presentation of Credentials in Gabon

On last 8th August, Ambassador Amnon Kalmar was received by the President of the Gabonese Republic for the solemn Letter of Credentials Presentation Ceremony.

The colorful ceremony took place in a convivial atmosphere. Important cooperation issues were discussed, and Ambassador Kalmar expressed his confidence that cooperation between Israel and the Gabonese Republic would be strengthened.

Prior to this ceremony, as required by diplomatic protocol, Ambassador Kalmar presented the figurative copies of his letters of credence to Mr. Michel Regis Onanga Ndiaye, Gabon's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Relations between the Gabonese Republic and the State of Israel are long-standing and solid.

Many officials on both sides have worked hard over the years to ensure that relations are long-lasting and beneficial to our two states and our two peoples.

Over the years, many Gabonese professionals have traveled to Israel to take part in conferences and courses organized by the Israeli Agency for International Development Cooperation MASHAV in areas such as agriculture, water management, public health and community support.

Israeli professionals have also gained experience working in Gabon in the fields of agriculture, health and energy solutions.

In addition to health, Israel is also focusing on energy cooperation in Gabon. Israeli expertise in this sector is well known in Gabon. Between 2013 and 2016, the Israeli company Téléménia delivered two thermal power stations in Libreville and Port-Gentil (the economic capital), running on natural gas, diesel and fuel oil.

The Libreville plant, built in Alénakiri, was inaugurated on 15 August 2013. Costing a total of FCFA 65 billion (€99 million), it has an electricity generation capacity of 70 megawatts.

The Port-Gentil plant, delivered on Wednesday 30th November 2016, has a capacity of 105 megawatts. It also runs on natural gas, diesel and fuel oil.

Israel also wants to make its mark on Gabon's education sector. It is planning more dynamic cooperation in the technology sector, where Israeli engineering is recognized worldwide.
