The Israeli ambassador to Cameroon has handed over a large donation of medicines and foodstuffs to help the people of the Far North region, victims of the recent devastating floods.

The ceremony, presided over by the Governor of the Far North region, Mr. Midjiyawa Bakari, was attended by administrative authorities, civil society leaders, traditional chiefs from the region and the beneficiaries.

In his opening remarks, the Israeli Ambassador, H.E. Amnon Kalmar, said that Israel's heart went out to the victims of the disaster, and that Israel was there to give them hope. ‘‘We are doing everything we can to provide you with what you need, out of solidarity, which is important to the State of Israel, all in order to overcome what has been damaged and to give hope to the people and the region’’, declared Ambassador Amnon Kalmar. ‘‘The State of Israel is with you and we send you best wishes for a good future,’’ he added.

This strong action by the Israeli Embassy in Cameroon is in line with its vision to support the efforts of the government of Cameroon in responding to natural disasters of all kinds. This major donation is another concrete demonstration of the strength of the relations of friendship and fraternity that exist between the two countries.

Representing the President of the Republic in his constituency, it was with great satisfaction that the Governor of the Far North region expressed the gratitude of the Cameroonian government for this donation to the stricken population.
