International conference on the topic of water
On January 8th, 2025, The Embassy of Israel in Sofia hosted the international conference "BeyondH2O – Israel’s Innovative Model for Water Management”, organized in partnership with Bulgarian Water and Sewage Holding and the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria (NAMRB)
The event brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and academia in Bulgaria and Israel to exchange knowledge and best practices in sustainable water management.
Keynote speaker Danny Greenwald, Senior Deputy Director General of the Israeli Water Authority, shared how Israel transitioned from water scarcity to self-sufficiency through innovation, reducing water losses from 14% to 7%.
Prominent speakers, including Bulgaria’s Minister of Environment and Water Mr.Petar Dimitrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs.Nevyana Miteva, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bulgarian Water and Sewage Holding Prof.Gancho Dimitrov and the executive director of NAMRB Mrs. Silvia Georgieva, highlighted the urgent need for modernization and further collaboration.
With the participation of leading Israeli water companies, organized by the Israeli Export Institute, the forum showcased cutting-edge solutions, including desalination and leak detection technologies, tailored to address Bulgaria's water challenges.
