Ambassador Yossi Levy Sfari and the Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Naama Levi, were guests at a documentary exhibition and a special edition of the magazine L'Europeo online, dedicated to the establishment of the State of Israel and the role of Bulgarian Jews in this process.
The initiative to popularize the participation of Bulgarians of Jewish origin in the economic and industrial rise of Bulgaria in the years following the Liberation was led by the Member of Parliament Lyuben Dilov Jr.
In his address, Ambassador Sfari stated: "We have a common mission - to remember and preserve our past in order to protect our future." He characterized the history of Jews in Bulgaria as long, steeped in good coexistence and excellent cooperation, which does not begin or end with the Second World War. Ambassador Sfari pointed out that anti-Semitism and hatred have no roots in Bulgaria, emphasizing that freedom of speech does not grant freedom to ignite conflicts.
