About Ambassador David Roet
Ambassador David Roet has commenced his tenure as Israel's Ambassador to the Republic of Austria and Permanent Representative to the UN, the OSCE and international Organizations in Vienna apart from CTBTO and IAEA, on September 29, 2023.
Previously, he served as Deputy Director General and head of the North America Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel for over four years. In this role, he oversaw matters pertaining to US-Israeli and Canadian-Israeli relations, which included the management of two embassies and ten consulates in the US and Canada. Before this, he held the position of Head of the North American Bureau in 2018.
Ambassador Roet also served as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative at Israel's Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2013 to 2017. During this time, he managed the mission's activities and actively participated in numerous sessions and debates at the General Assembly and Security Council.
Prior to that, from 2010 to 2013, he was responsible for the Bureau for Personnel Training in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this capacity, he developed and administered training programs for diplomats representing the State of Israel worldwide, as well as handled the recruitment of new diplomats to the Foreign Service.
From 2004 to 2010, he held the position of Director of the US Consulate Department in the North American Affairs Division. In this role, he supervised consulate activities, encompassing political affairs, public diplomacy, and community liaison.
Between 1999 and 2004, Ambassador Roet served as the Deputy Consul General at Israel's Consulate General to the Midwest in Chicago, representing 11 Midwest states.
Throughout his career, Ambassador Roet also occupied several other roles within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including First Secretary for Political and Economic Affairs in Seoul, Korea, from 1992 to 1996, and Political Counselor in the South East Asia Division from 1996 to 1999.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration, as well as a Master's degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education program.
