Renunciation of Israeli citizenship by an Israeli citizen residing in a foreign country.

This service enables an Israeli citizen who resides in a foreign country to submit an application to renounce their citizenship.
Required Documents To Apply
Applicant's ID card or passport.
Proof of additional citizenship, or of an assurance that the applicant will receive another citizenship when they have ceased being an Israeli citizen.
Proof that the applicant resides in a foreign country.
Tip
In any case of unclarity, you can email the consular department with the following details:
1. Your Israeli ID number (not a picture of your passport)
2. Your full name
3. What is your current marital status? When was it last changed?
4. Do you have children? if so, when and where were they born?

Once we will have all the details, we can provide you a detailed explanation that is relevant to your situation.
Required Presence At The Consulate
The applicant must appear in person at the mission.
Please note
Receiving an approval / deny can take up to six months. Note that if you want to go to Israel prior to receiving a definitive answer, you will have to use your Israeli travel document when traveling to Israel.

Information
  • If the application for renunciation of citizenship is for a minor 15 years of age or older, the minor must also attend the scheduled meeting.
  • For your information, the procedure for relinquishing citizenship between the ages of 15 and 26 is subject to the decision of the Ministry of the Interior and the IDF authorities. If there is an objection from the recruitment manager to the renunciation of citizenship, the citizen can apply again for renunciation of citizenship upon reaching the age specified in the decision of the Ministry of the Interior and the recruitment manager.
  • If you want to order a certificate of non-citizenship, you can do so at the time of the appointment.
  • If you will want the certificate of non-citizenship after the initial appointment, you will have to book an appointment in order to apply.
  • all the details in Israel need to match to your non Israeli status (marital status, names, children etc..), should they not be – the documents will not be submitted until they are updated.
