MR. HAROUT BAGHAMIAN
Mr. Harout Baghamian is a career diplomat who joined the Israeli MFA in 2021. After completing the diplomatic cadets’ course of the ministry, he first joined the Department of Africa and then the Department of Eurasia and the Balkans. In September 2022 he assumed his duties as Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul at the Israeli embassy in Tirana, Albania, which also covers Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mr. Harout is the first Israeli diplomat who is a member of one of the smallest Christian minorities in Israel, the Armenian community. He held leadership positions at the Armenian community and its organizations whose focus was preserving the Armenian identity and culture in Israel, as well as advocating Armenian causes and issues in the country.
Mr. Baghamian was born and raised in the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem, Israel and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and Sociology and a Master’s Degree in International Law and Conflict Resolution, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is fluent in Armenian, English, Hebrew and Arabic.
